Show Career of Meg (Bowstones Meg For Beaverbrook)

Meg (17 November 2002)

Meg is a yellow bitch bred by Ann Britton. She is the daughter of Llanstinan Marcus x Sh Ch Bowstones Susanna. She holds a clear eye certificate, and her hip score is 6:4.  Meg was born on 21 February 2001, which was right at the start of the dreadful Foot & Mouth crisis. Due to all the restrictions, Meg was unable to be shown during her puppyhood and missed out on the important socialisation. However, she is now making up for it all in leaps and bounds, and attended her first ever show on 6th October 2002, winning her class in style.

Meg is now an important part of our family and is thoroughly enjoying her days out with us all. She has the rest of her life to make up for her lost time as a puppy, and is certainly putting all her efforts into having a jolly good time!

Meg has done incredibly well at Companion Dog Shows, having won  2 BEST IN SHOW awards, 2 RESERVE BEST IN SHOW and 2 BEST VETERAN IN SHOW, in addition to many Best Gundog and Best Sporting triumphs. Meg is a member of the Companion Dog Club and was the winner of the special member’s class at Tenbury Wells Companion Dog Show on Sunday 23rd July 2006.  We are so proud of you Meg! What a long way you have come from the shy girl you once were.

2008 is here, and we can’t believe that Meg is now a Veteran. She took part in her first Veteran Stakes class at Sutton Coldfield & District Canine Society Open Show on 23rd February 2008 and gained a very respectable 5th place from 16 entries. The following day, Meg took part in the AV Veteran class at the Quedgley Companion Dog Show, which she won and was awarded Best Veteran in Show. On Easter Sunday 23rd March, Meg won her second Best Veteran in Show at Breinton Companion Dog Show, Stretton Sugwas, Hereford, under Judge Mrs Cynthia Crossley. What a star! On 24th May 2008 Meg achieved her ultimate goal, gaining Crufts qualification for 2009 by being placed 2nd in Veteran Bitch at Bath Championship Show by Judge Mrs M Grant. Meg was also in a qualifying position at Blackpool Championship Show on 21st June 2008, with 3rd in Veteran Bitch under Judge Mr Andrew Brace, and yet again with 3rd in Veteran Bitch at the National Gundog Association Championship Show at Three Counties Showground on 2nd August 2008 under Judge Mr Richard Wiles. Meg attended United Retriever Club Championship Show at Three Counties Showground on 13th August and gave us a day to remember, being awarded 1st place and Best Veteran Bitch under Judge Mr Keith Young.
