(LLANSTINAN SEAMUS OF BEAVERBROOK)

Seamus in action March 2007

Seamus is the first chocolate Labrador we have had. Born on 16 June 2005, he was bred by Mr & Mrs Miles, sired by Norw Ch Birchbrook Barley Wine of Charway x Susan Said So at Llanstinan. He’s  a real “jack the lad”, but incredibly affectionate and intelligent.

Seamus has had a great start to his show career, being placed 1st in Junior at just 7 months of age to be Best Puppy in Breed and on to Reserve Best of Breed at Wellington (Shropshire) Canine Society Open Show on 12th February 2006. On 8th April, at just 9 months, he was Best Puppy in Breed and runner up in the Gundog Puppy Group at Stratford on Avon Canine Society Open Show. Thanks to Marion Reeves and Amanda Stewart respectively for a super start. The good results are continuing, and at just 10 months of age Seamus has qualified for Crufts 2007 at Birmingham National Championship Show – many thanks to judge Mrs J Allen (Allenies), and followed this by winning the Gundog Puppy Group at Redditch & District Canine Society Open Show on 20th May 2006 under judge Mr Keith Young (Pyngold). In July, Seamus was awarded 2nd place in his class at Paignton Championship Show under Judge Mr Moray Armstrong. By October 2006 Seamus had won out of the novice class after winning Junior at the Birmingham & District Gundog & Terrier Club Show.

2007 continued well for Seamus, being consistently placed at all the shows he attended, including 1st in Undergraduate Dog at the National Gundog Association Championship Show under Judge Mrs Jackie Hodge (Naiken).

Seamus was out of coat for the end of 2007/beginning of 2008, but returned on 1st March to win the AV Retriever Open Class at Birmingham Kennel Association.

At Companion Dog Shows Seamus is also doing very well, and we are thrilled to say that at Tenbury Wells CDS on Sunday 23rd July 2006 Seamus won the AV Junior class and went on to be awarded RESERVE BEST IN SHOW under Judge Mr Jon Crossley at just 13 months of age. At Wollaston Companion Dog Show on 8th October 2006 Seamus was Best Gundog in Show under Judge Mr Dieter Sprung. Seamus thrilled us on Sunday 26th August 2007 by being awarded BEST IN SHOW by Judge Mrs Wendy Bray at  the GSD Rescue CDS held at Aston Edwardian Sports Stadium, Perry Park, Birmingham. Seamus attended the 2007 Tenbury Wells CDS on 23rd September to defend his title which we are delighted to say he achieved, being awarded his second  RESERVE BEST IN SHOW, this time under Judge Mr Roger Bartram. On 29th June 2008, Seamus was awarded his third RESERVE BEST IN SHOW, this time at the Bromyard Gala CDS judged by Mr Jon Crossley and the following week on 6th July at Albrighton Woodland Hunt CDS Seamus won the Gundog class under Judge Mr Bill Evans.
